They're friendly, affordable, and LOCAL. I'm sticking with these guys (Believe me, there isn't any worthy comparison so don't waste your time even looking). My recommendation comes from a google search that led me to Star, the closest place to have a key made. I had no expectations really. But after my experience in doing business with them, I know for a fact you can trust them. I left personal belongings in my car and nothing was moved or touched. They got things done in a very timely manner. Customer service is very important and a lot of places have forgotten how much consumers value it, but not these guys. It makes a difference whether or not I write a positive review on businesses mostly because they follow the golden rule (do what we all need to do and treat people how we want to be treated). Star Lock & Key went above and beyond my expectations and was an overall positive experience. They treated me like they wanted me to come back. Well maybe they're just nice, honest guys and it's my decision to come back and use them for the services they provide. I came in with a problem that really needed a solution. I left with my problem solved, headache gone and a smile on my face. Thanks, guys! I will continue to recommend everyone to you guys!

I chose this locksmith based on these great YELP reviews. These guys want your work and go for it. I needed a lock re-keyed for my 91 year old mother's (I live in Seattle) house. This was an emergency as her daughter was threatening her. These got the job done within hours - superfast. Nice guys! Friendly!

Just bad business, man. You can check my other review and since, I've been here at least seven different times, none of which (including my last review) have I gotten any service completed. Not one job done. What kind of business is this? Must be one where they pick and choose who will get service. I've been in and out of here for months trying to get a new electronic key for my car. Obviously, I won't be returning as they've gotten the ol (rare) 1-star from me. First off, there seems to be "a guy" for every different type of job you need done. Need a safe handled? There's 'a guy' for that. Need an electronic key made? Also, 'a guy' for that. I had no idea the locksmith industry was booming so much so that not one person can take on knowledge of anything but one task. Then you'd be lucky to catch whatever 'guy' you need because either he shows up when he wants to or not at all. Flashback: I went in, requesting a new key, they needed to order the part, ok, cool. A few days later the part arrives, I tell them on the phone that I will be there in 15 minutes. 13 minutes later I show up, guess what, 'the guy' that does electronic keys just left out (wtf?! I JUST said I'd be there shortly) then I leave for a month. I get back after my trip, still needing a new key, so I give it another try. Again, on the phone I asked if 'the guy' was in because I did not want to make a blank trip if not and if they didn't have the part. I even spoke with 'the guy' on the phone, told him exactly what I needed, asked if they had the part in stock, to which he replied "we should have it" (can't you just get up and go check?!) I show up, and of course, they didn't have the part in. Unbelievable. So, again, they take down my info and tell me the part will be in, in a few days. Well it's been 3 weeks and nothing, so now they're getting this review. Stay away, save yourself the time and go somewhere else.

My daughter and I went to Star Lock and Key on the 2/25/2016. She needed a copy key for her car. My mother used to get her keys made there, when she was alive. The young man was courteous, and professional. He knew what he was doing. He made a master key for my daughter. They only took about ten minutes to make it, The older two other guys were helpful too.The young guy,I think that his name is Chad, couldn't quite make out a number that was on the valet key and they helped out.I know that they are master locksmiths too.Chad tested the key and it was perfect. Loved the service, courteousy, and price. Will definitely go back to them, and recommend them to others.

Tried to use a local company, but they picked up and hung up on me. Don't have time for that stuff so I went with Pop a Lock instead. Oh well.

Coming back from a vacation, I found that my key wouldn't enter the ignition of my 2007 Honda Civic. Nothing is more irksome than having to fix something on your car that you have no idea how it happened or why. I tried a few other places that were really not listening to the issue causing more stress than necessary and pricing me around $300+ to fix the issue. I finally did what I should've done from the beginning and had my car towed to Star Lock And Key Co. Carl and the gang are early birds over there so if you have this issue arrange with them to bring your car over early. Carl let me know that Chad had it fixed up by that afternoon, letting me know they replaced the tumblers in the ignition ( a common issue that they've fixed multiple times) and it cost me $125 which was great considering I thought I was going to have to drop a lot more. I would definitely recommend these guys for a tumbler issue with your ignition on a Honda Civic!

I needed a replacement keyless entry remote. Dealerships charge $250 (!) and naturally I was trying not to spend that much. Star Lock and Key quoted me $150, so I decided to go for it. They ordered the key, said they would call me when it arrived, and then I didn't hear from them for three weeks. On my second follow-up call to them, the remote had arrived (thanks for letting me know). They have only one locksmith who can program keyless entry remotes, so another two weeks went by, as this person was often in Lafayette for some reason. I was finally told (after I called them, naturally) to come first thing in the morning, which I did. There were four people ahead of me at 8:00am to speak to this one person. The person programmed my remote, only to ftell me that the trunk button did not work, but that was not his fault and I probably have a blown fuse. Of course, the mechanic told me the fuse was fine, and that Star Lock had likely ordered the wrong remote unit, so now I've been lied to, and I've paid for a remote that can't open my trunk. You get what you pay for. I will never go back to them, under any circumstances.

Personnel, professional service, is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this business. I had called to check on a price, which actually put Pop A Lock to shame, then, about a week later when I called to actually schedule the service , it happened to be the same person who I spoke with the first time. Not only was he just this kind & professional as the first time, but he actually remembered the make model and year of my car. The technician who came out to make the key, was also kind and professional. The keys were perfect, and the price wasn't much more than half of the price of the aformentioned competitor. I would absolutely use again, and recommend to anyone. Thanks Star, your name is befitting!!

Five stars for Star Lock and Key. I left a message on Mother's Day and they called me back first thing Monday morning. Star one: actually returning a call, and promptly at that. Star two: They told me they could send someone out that day. Star three: The locksmith, a cool guy with a weathered dreamcatcher tattoo on one forearm and a heart being stabbed on the other, arrived that morning. He had 29 years of experience but said he's never call himself a "master" locksmith because locks are always becoming more sophisticated. Star four: He changed all the locks (six total), installed a deadbolt and gave me four keys. Star five: It took less than an hour and cost $212.

In response to Chad. The dealer didn't have your parts, after I called it still took a day to get the door handles in. The parts person told me that it may take a few days, but called the next day and said they came in. So no. Parts you assume we're ordered and there, weren't there when I called early in week three. When I first brought the van in I had come from another automotive service center and knew it was the handle and lock. I mentioned this to you. The door was working fine from the inside indicating that the mechanism in the door was fine. You told me that you'd have to take it apart to see for yourself. The cost of the door handles was about $100.00 less than what you quoted me. Not a big deal to me if the service is good. The biggest thing that upset me was that I texted you in the third week, "Please stay on top of this, two weeks is a bit too long to find out that they screwed his order up. Thank you." And you respond, " It takes a week just to get the parts in and I have a lot of orders going on to remember to check them all. You dealt with this Yelp review quickly. If you helped your customers as quickly I wouldn't be writing this update. You call this service? I'm not looking to keep defending myself. I can post screen shots of the texts if this goes further. I'll also post the inappropriate text you sent this morning. I'm not going to be harassed.

Decided to obtain some duplicates keys and remotes for our vehicles and homes. Based on the YELP reviews here the choice was an easy one. Arrived at the business with no appointment and walked in. First of all, the place is easy to find and has ample parking on the premises. Secondly, in this summer heat the AC works just find and it was very comfortable inside doing business. The staff is professional, competent, and friendly. Over and above those great qualities they provide service to you quickly. Reminds me of the way businesses, most businesses, operated when I was growing up in New Orleans. If they can get the job done they will. If they cannot they will tell why they cannot. My kind of people. This place has my Seal of Approval. And they don't even serve food or wine. Go figure.

Long gone are the days when you could copy your car key for a few bucks at the hardware store. If you're not driving something ancient, then you probably have a chipped key which requires programming from the dealership. The thing is car dealerships like to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. It's in their DNA. Call and ask about getting an extra key and they will ask for an arm and most of your leg. Unless you're inclined to start donating appendages, it's best to look elsewhere. What the dealership won't tell you is that a reputable locksmith can do the same programming for a fraction of the cost. Star Lock and Key was able to cut and program two extra keys in about five minutes for a few cents shy of $60. I happened to find a pair of uncut keys on EBay for a good price, but you can also get them from Star. They don't just copy car keys, this is a full service locksmith. They can copy just about any key, and service just about any lock. No shills here, these guys know their stuff. They have been in New Orleans for 80 years and are a great local alternative to Pop-A-Lock.

Excellent customer service. I was referred to this business by the wonderful people at United Hardware because I needed a key cut for an older Mercedes. I was in and out in less than ten minutes, and the key worked perfectly. Fantastic!

Professional, fast, and local. Be careful when you call a locksmith. Many are just 1-800 #'s for disreputable con men. Find a local shop. This one is good.

Lost truck keys and had no spare; needed keys made. I called and spoke with Jared and he arranged for Tommy to come out. Both gentlemen were very polite and helpful. Keys Tommy made worked perfectly! Thanks for a job well done!

Feeling down because I lost my keys I was quickly uplifted as I entered the door with a very big smile and a warm welcome. I gave the locksmith the copy of my lost key and he made a copy within seconds. The atmosphere looks more like a hunting club with all the dear head decor but still feels like a southern home nonetheless. The price for the keys made were reasonable and I was out the door in less than 5 minutes.

Wanted to say that the customer service at Brunson Safe and Lock was great. I was able to get keys made to my car at a reasonable price and in a timely manner. If anyone needs keys made i would tell them all to go there.

This is the best place to go for all your lock and key needs ! Been here several times for various needs(keys , locks , lock needs) one of the few places besides the expensive dealers to get reverse cut keys ! Have been able to get keys for locks that I had no keys for , and everything was reasonably priced ! Service was great!

The company that I work for started using American in 2015. They have been able to cut keys right the first time that other area locksmiths were not able to cut. They also repaired a lock that one locksmith was not able to repair after they changed out the lock. I have always received fast reliable courteous service from them. Their store on Sherwood looks Professional and inviting, the store is in great shape and does not look like a building that survived Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The store is in a nice safe neighbor hood also.

Extremely disappointed w/the ppl & the service. I called this AM & the dispatcher told me his driver will be here before lunch. That was perfect considering we were trying to build a lean-to over where this car w/no keys has been. Living in Livingston, the 1st 2 things I asked when getting quotes: "Do you do vehicles?" & "Do you come out to Livingston?". The guy who gave my quote of $155 took down my address & even responded with, "That's perfect b/c my guy is in Denham today. What's that...just 10 mins from you, right?" On the way here, the driver called for the 3rd time saying "he's on the way". The last phone call, he let me know that he doesn't know what the mix up was but they were going to have to charge me an extra $40 b/c we were in Livingston. I let him know what the dispatcher said & he was well aware of my location. We discussed it 3 different conversations. The driver got here at 3:30 (4 hrs later!) Thomas, the driver, was very nice & it took him 5 mins to do. I wish as much grief as the dispatcher gave me about finding the registration to this abandoned car, they would've actually followed through & asked to see PROOF it was mine. No, Thomas didn't ask for a single thing. Thank God I'm honest. Thomas only charged me $175 (to meet in the middle) for the mix up, which I appreciated. When pulling out, he assumed it was ok to back into our yard. I wish I can post pictures of that rut! As if we haven't been held up enough on this lean-to project, my husband had to get him out the mud! I called after to speak to a mgr or the owner. The mgr supposedly picked up. After complaining, he told me Thomas WAS the owner! Ppl like that shouldn't own a business. Honestly, I think they took advantage at the last min b/c they knew I was stuck & needed that car moved TODAY. But the mgr could care less & had no answers nor apologies for Thomas being 4 hrs late. Pls take your $$ elsewhere...these ppl are a flight risk.

this store sells all kinds of keys and will duplicate nearly any key. a really quirky cashier was working when i recently visited, but the conversation was awesome because we talked about ~the rapture~ that didn't happen. reasonably priced and takes credit cards. minus one star for the horrible location...very hard to navigate out of the parking lot onto college drive at certain hours.

Call for assistance with a re key and deadbolt install at one of my storage properties. Service was completed same day at a reasonable cost. Brittany was a pleasure to speak with and made sure I was well informed of the process. Thanks y'all. Will do business again!

I went in because I had broken my key off in my lock. It took them over 45 minutes but they finally were able to get the key out and fix my lock (it was a new lock and apparently whoever keyed it in the beginning did it wrong). They did not charge me, and were extremely nice and helpful! I will definitely go back here.

Went to get a key made, door was locked, went next door to the poboy shop to ask what the hours were, they informed me that the workers truck was in the parking lot. Went BACK to the shop, and was greeted rudely at the door by an employee that informed me that they had "closed 30 minutes ago". Looked at my watch, it was 3:15pm. EDIT: Removed some of the first day negativity associated with being angry enough to post a negative YELP review. Also, for the record, I never cussed his employee. While I understand it was Good Friday, the whole situation could have been avoided by simply placing a sign in their window that said "Closed early for Good Friday", which they did not. My assumption, after visiting the poboy shop, was that he was using the restroom and locked the door to prevent theft.

We called 4 or 5 other locksmiths who either said they couldn't do it(without even seeing it) or said they were too busy. We were given the number for this company by someone who said they were too busy. Ricky called us back immediately and was at the house within 20 minutes. Took him less than 10 minutes to assess the problem and fix it. All of this by the way was on a Saturday. Less than 60 minutes from start to finish and he was very polite as well. Would recommend him to anyone that needs a locksmith.

This company has local phone numbers across the US. We are in Kansas City, MO and used their service the beginning of February. We were overcharged and spoke with a supervisor who told us they would refund us eighty dollars. I have called once or twice a week since then and keeping getting told they will return call in three to five days. Yesterday I was told he would definitely call me today. Still waiting, called back and asked to speak with a supervisor, he said he was on another call so I told him I would hold. He rudely said he had to keep his line open for calls and he would have him call me back. I said I will give him an hour then I would call back every hour until I can speak to him. I spoke with the Better Business Bureau today and they are now involved as well. Sad that it has been three months! Worst service ever.

I had the unfortunate incident of locking my keys in my car on the eve of the expected Snow-megadon Round 2. A quick search on google brought up Benjamin Locksmith, based out of Louisiana but apparently they have branches nationwide. The representative had a very thick accent and I was a bit worried that my call had been rerouted to a call center in India. But he assured me that a tech was in the area and would give me a call once I gave him my location. When asked for a quote, the rep stated that it would be a $19.95 service fee plus whatever the tech would say before the work began but it should not amount to more than $50. 40 minutes later, the tech appears, after glancing at my car; he says the fee would be $175. Hilarious that they thought they could rip me off. I declined and said no thanks and sorry for making the drive out for nothing because I could get Progressive to come out for free. At this point, he starts to become aggressive and stands super close to me, raising his voice. What about $160? Nope, sorry thats more than the original quote. So he says he's going to make a call to the office and proceeds to price haggle me. He really would not take no for an answer but I was firm on the original quote of $50, so after 5 minutes he rudely says Fine! $50 CASH! The guy was very rude, but did manage to get my car opened in short time. I've had other encounters with locksmiths and this by far is my worst experience. It felt like I was haggling with a used car salesman.

My son locked his keys in the car. He was quoted a $20 service call and was told they would give him the final price when they arrived and assessed the situation. Upon arrival (an hour later) he was told again it would be $20. He authorized them to go ahead. 2 minutes later the lock was popped. The tech proceeded to charge him $200 and then told him if he paid with a debit card he'd knock off 10%. The tech wasn't very good at math and charged him $175. My son is a child who has never had to deal with these type of things. When an adult tells you, you owe $175 you pay it. My wife called immediately posing as a new customer. She was quoted $20. She then said,"I think you owe my son a refund then." They have given her the runaround and will not put any of us on the phone with anyone who has the authority to issue a refund. I will be making this a personal crusade.
